Position Responsibility: Multi-skilled position that is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electrical systems in the cement plant.

Starting Pay: Level 1 $22.00/hour, Level 2 $24.00/hour, Level 3 $26.00/hour
(Levels will be determined through a skills assessment. Pay increases will be based on skills and performance.)

Key Position Activities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair a diverse range of electrical equipment throughout the cement plant (Example: Instrumentation circuits, motor control circuits up to 13.8 kilovolts, low and medium voltage drives, monitoring analyzers)
  • Schematic reading & calibration
  • Digital and Analog PLC program use in troubleshooting
  • Low and medium voltage cable routing, splicing and terminating
  • Basic mechanical activities (For example: Non-critical welding, laser alignment)
  • Perform walk-by inspections & diagnostic checks
  • Maintain documentation, plan and organize work, participate in various team activities
Work Environment: Job has a lot of variety and is not routine. Power and Control techs will be required to work with high voltages (up to 13.8 kV), work outside, at heights, warm temperatures and in confined spaces. Position will be predominantly day shift but incumbent will be required to work shifts as necessary.

Ideal candidates would have a high technical aptitude, ability to work in a team based environment, experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, excellent electrical knowledge and familiarity with National Electrical Code for applications up to 15 kilovolts.

Position Responsibility: Multi-skilled position that is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the cement plant.

Key Position Activities:
  • Perform walk-by inspections & checklists on operating process plant
  • Perform mechanical maintenance activities, make repairs, installations and replacements on a wide variety of equipment.
    (Example: rigging, cutting, welding, fitting, lubrication, alignments, basic low voltage electrical repairs, housekeeping, hydraulics, pneumatics, operate light and medium sized plant mobile equipment).
  • Troubleshoot and optimize equipment during operation and mechanical breakdowns
  • Maintain documentation, plan and organize work, participate in various team activities
Work Environment: Job has a lot of variety and is not routine. Cement techs will be required to work outside, at heights, warm temperatures, and at times around and over water, in dusty environments and confined spaces. Position will be predominantly day shift but incumbent will be required to work shifts as necessary.

Ideal candidates would have a high mechanical aptitude, ability to work in a team based environment and excellent mechanical knowledge, and experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Position Responsibility: Multi-skilled position that is responsible for the mining operation.

Starting Pay: Level 1 $18.00/hour, Level 2 $20.00/hour, Level 3 $23.00/hour
(Levels will be determined through a skills assessment. Pay increases will be based on skills and performance.)

Key Position Activities:
  • Operation of mobile equipment required to mine rock (For example: Rock drills, Wheel loaders, Bulldozer, Haul trucks and water truck, Motor grader, Fuel tanker, Hydraulic rock breaker).
  • Perform mechanical maintenance check-outs, troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and do minor preventative maintenance on mobile equipment
  • Monitor and react to quality issues (For example: sample drill holes, monitor quality feedback information & adjust mining pattern as necessary)
  • Maintain documentation, plan and organize work, participate in various team activities
Work Environment: Job has some routine, but also variety. Quarry techs will spend a large portion of their time operating mobile equipment. The equipment is large (trucks ~ 80 tons) and mining operation takes place throughout the year. The quarry will operate on a 2 shift basis and incumbents will predominantly work these 2 shifts.

Ideal candidates would have a high mechanical aptitude and experience operating mobile equipment.

QUALITY TECHNICIAN Applications accepted beginning mid-2008


Position Responsibility: Multi-skilled position that is responsible for the quality of the product.

Starting Pay: Level 1 $19.00/hour, Level 2 $21.00/hour, Level 3 $24.00/hour
(Levels will be determined through a skills assessment. Pay increases will be based on skills and performance.)

Key Position Activities:
  • Inspection, troubleshooting and minor maintenance of automatic lab systems.
  • Adjustment of process and material set points to maintain quality of raw mix and cement within targets
  • Perform analyses and physical tests
  • Compile reports and interpret data
  • Maintain documentation, plan and organize work, participate in various team activities
Work Environment: Job is more routine in nature. A large portion of time will be spent in the laboratory, but incumbent will be required to collect samples from the plant. Incumbent will be predominantly required to work rotating shifts.

Ideal candidate would have mechanical aptitude, passion for quality and attention to detail.
